The Blood Sunday Of Selma

Fifty years ago today, only 50 years, that is within my lifetime… 600 civil rights marchers were viciously and horribly attacked at the Edmund Pettus Bridge after leaving Selma Alabama on their way to the state capitol city of Montgomery, by state troopers and “county posse”. Peacefully and unarmed they were set upon by clubs, tear gas, dogs, lumber wrapped with barbed wire in a most despicable display of bigotry. To this day, such bigotry and hate still exists and not in some far away places, but right here. Mankind is certainly it’s own worst enemy. We all need to do better.
