I find this place so very interesting and scenic. The Cholla Cactus Garden in the Pinto Basin of Joshua Tree National Park. The Cholla thrive here becuase of the exact right conditions. Also the stems are too heavy for the wind to carry so they stay right in the area. 04-07-2024

It Will Get You

Do you see it? Look close. One of the most dangerous creatures in Joshua Tree National Park. The Cholla known as the Jumping Cactus. It does not actually jump but has very sharp spines with barbs that easily detach from the plant and snagging anyone nearby. The Cholla Gardens in the Park have sidewalks so people can safely walk through and warning signs. However it is somewhat amusing to see visitors walk through in typical shorts and flip-flops venturing off the path. It must keep the Park Rangers very busy with first aid.

Spa And Cactus

Desert Hot Springs, known for little spas and boutique hotels, some really nice, some not so much. A small town, founded in 1941, nearby the much larger resort city of Palm Springs. Built by tourism coming for the natural mineral hot springs and then by real estate speculation. Having seen good times and bad times, there is still a mix of the times gone in signs of the past, if you just take the time and go look. From a photography excursion just yesterday.

I Don’t Get It

So the sign is right there! But when I used it everybody got so upset. At Moorten Botanical Garden.
