A Win At Reno

A huge congratulations to my friend Patrick Nightingale flying the Palm Springs Air Museum P-63 Kingcobra to a third place Bronze race win at the 2023 Reno Air Races a few weeks ago. This is video from the 2019 race on a GoPro I mounted in the P-63 with Patrick as the pilot that year. It is an exciting ride!

Harvest Moon

The Moon at 99.9% of full. Distance from the Earth approximately 224,625,739 miles. Named the Harvest Moon as it refers to the full Moon closest to the Autumnal Equinox. 09-28-2023 Palm Springs California

Sunspots 09-25-2023

Two prominent Sunspot areas. The larger is designated as AR3435 now comprised of 16 individual Sunspots and covering an area of 913 million square kilometers. The other is AR3445 and is comprised of 32 individual Sunspots. 09-25-2023 Palm Springs California

Crater Tycho

The sharply defined crater at the South is Tycho, named in 1651 after Danish astronomer Tycho Brahe. It is estimated to be 108 million years old. Photographed in the waxing gibbous phase of the Moon at an approximate distance of 228,000 miles from the Earth. 09-24-2023 Palm Springs California

Numerous Sunspots 09-20-2023. The larger area is designated AR3435. At 324 million square miles, it is twice the size of the surface of the Earth.

Boeing 777 At 41,000 ft.

A DHL Boeing 777-F flying over Palm Springs California at 41,000 ft and 660 mph. Operated by Kalitta Air en route from LAX to Cincinatti.

Bridge Over The 215

A railroad bridge over the Interstate 215 freeway in Colton California. Driving under it we seldom get to actually see it and the graffiti.

Mission Inn Christmas

The Mission Inn starting Christmas decorating in September. A Nutcracker on a balconey on the backside of the hotel. The Mission Inn is a very historic hotel in downtown Riverside California and designated as a National Historic Landmark.
