Bodybuilding Webcasts

How many of you watch the Olympia and Arnold bodybuilding competitions online? How about any other bodybuilding shows around the country or the world? Well that all started out in the late 2000’s because of me and this video camera, John Balik’s Iron Man Magazine and FitExpo and Bodybuilding.com. That is where it all began. And not the Bodybuilding.com of today. The original Bodybuilding.com created by Ryan, Jeremy and Russ DeLuca who were the visionaries who made so much possible in the world of bodybuilding and fitness.

Tie-Dye

A tie-dye sheet I purchased from a roadside vendor. I found the perfect one-time use for it with model Maria Eriksson. A three time Playboy Playmate, fashion model for top London designers, she has also appeared numerous times in Maxim and FHM Magazines around the world. 2010 Playboy’s Top 100 Sexiest Women. Once a full time science teacher teaching Physics, Biology and Chemistry. More on my website at SecondFocus.com Thanks!

National Donut Day Today June 7th

What started as a simple ring of fried dough has transformed into a wide variety of donuts with an array of toppings and designs that we know and love today. From major storefront chains with large followings to beloved neighborhood shops, America has a deep affection for donuts. More of my food photos on my website at SecondFocus.com Thanks!

Beautiful Naked Women

I love this photograph of Tiana. Although there are many superb photographs from our photoshoot. A full gallery of her will be here soon. One of the many shoots I did along the way. I am now making these photographs available as art prints. Send me a note at Ian@SecondFocus.com. More to be seen on my website at SecondFocus.com

National Hamburger Day

Today May 28, 2024 is National Hamburger Day! It is the USA’s favorite food, followed closely by the Cheeseburger. As I have read, evidence suggests that the Hamburger actually originated here in the USA. It certainly is the mainstay of the entire Fast Food industry. Do you have a guess where this Burger is from? More of my food photographs on my website at SecondFocus.com Thanks!

1 of 100 of Amber

1 of 100 of Amber. A new gallery on my website. https://www.secondfocus.com/index/G00001T6dGZnl5K4 A day’s shooting of 519 photographs. This is my selection of 100. Usually from a photoshoot we only select a few. Spend time with a lot of editing. But I find it sad not to show more from a shoot. The expressions, the movements, the beauty as I saw it and I photographed it. Please visit the gallery and let me know what you think. Thanks! https://www.secondfocus.com/index/G00001T6dGZnl5K4

National Bike Month

A beaufitul naked woman wearing a bike helmet not riding a bicycle.

I just found out that May is National Bike Month. Established in 1956, the League of American Bicyclists says it “… is a chance to showcase the many benefits of bicycling — and encourage more folks to giving biking a try”. So I hope you find my photograph encouraging. Thanks!

National Pop-Tart Day!

May 19th today is National Pop-Tart Day! Very timely with the release of the Jerry Seinfeld motion picture “Unfrosted”. A whacky comedy about the race between Kellogg’s and it’s biggest competitor, Post, to bring a toaster breakfast pastry to the market in the early 1960’s. The ultimate winner, Kellogg’s still turning out millions of them 50 years later. More of my food photos on my website at http://SecondFocus.com

So Much More…

So very many of my photoshoots that I have not shown yet. But I am working to do that now that I have more time. They will be on my website, galleries, books. For simplicity I am going alphabetically, at least for the moment. Much more of model Amber Flowers soon. My website at SecondFocus.com

Studio Lighting

I think my idea for advertising for lighting equipment is better than most. Here we have a Broncolor Para 133 reflector as the main lighting source. And then a much more creative use of a Broncolor softbox. During the photoshoot we also did eliminate the softbox. The Para was great by itself. Model Amber Flowers.

The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Moving Wall

The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Moving Wall in Desert Hot Springs, California through May 20th. Of the age generations of that time, we all served or have friends or family who served. The Vietnam War shaped all of those of us in one way or another.

The Moving Wall is a half-size replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington D.C. First displayed in 1984, it travels throughout the United States.

National Pizza Party Day

OK here it is, National Pizza Party Day! And pretty much any reason is a good reason to have Pizza. America’s favorite… Pepperoni. The first Pizza establishment in the U.S. opened in New York’s Little Italy in 1905. More of my food photos on my website at http://SecondFocus.com Thanks! May 17, 2024

International Pickle Day

Not to be confused with National Pickle Day, today May 16th is International Pickle Day. We really find them on everything, but I hope that excludes Pizza. The most popular is the Dill Pickle. My own memories very much relate them to Deli restaurants. More of my fun food photos on my website at http://SecondFocus.com Thanks!

National BBQ Day

Today May 16th is National BBQ Day. Why it was created to sometimes be on a weekday instead of a Sunday makes no sense to me. But I didn’t do it. What I did do is photograph barbecued ribs because what says BBQ more than ribs! More of my food photographs on my website at http://SecondFocus.com Take a look, they are fun. Thanks!

Casting Shadows

Very exciting to be in another show at the Artists Center at the Galen. “Casting Shadows: Dimensional Art” opening reception this Thursday, May 16th, from 4-6pm. Yes I have a photograph in the show but with some added pieces to make it “Dimensional”. I won’t tell you what it is but if you come I will introduce you to Monique, the Sushi Chef. The reception is free so stop on by. The Artists Center at the Galen, 72-567 Hwy 111, Palm Desert California. Thanks!

National Hostess CupCake Day

Introduced on May 10, 1919 but first sold on May 11th, which is why today is National Hostess CupCake Day. Originally they were two for 5 cents. In case you were wondering; the vanilla creme is injected through the top and then the icing is added. More of my food photos on my website at http://SecondFocus.com Thanks!

Artists Council Highlight

Very fun to be featured by the Artists Council for May 2024. The Artists Council, in it’s sixth year as an independent organization, was previously part of the prestigious Palm Springs Art Museum. It occupies the award winning Galen Building in Palm Desert California. It is a museum quality facility hosting numerous gallery shows throughout the year. Thank You Artists Council!

Severe Solar Storms

Expected today, severe geomagnetic storms on Earth resulting from at least five coronal mass ejections (CME). The result will be radio blackouts and high auroral activity. The source for much of it is sunspot area AR3664, which has doubled in size in the last 24 hours. It is now 14 times larger than the area of the Earth. 05-10-2024 Palm Springs California

National Shrimp Day

Today, we are celebrating National Shrimp Day! Americans devour more shrimp than any other seafood. When you blend that love for shrimp with another American classic, fast food, you get Fried Shrimp. And when it comes to the nation’s favorite, look no further than Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen! Started in 1972 and now with over 3700 locations worldwide. Popeyes serves up what is called the best tasting fast food fried shrimp.

Kalura Trattoria

I just happened to notice that one of my all time favorite restaurants is still using my photograph at the top of their Facebook page. That is 10 years now. It is the view from the bar out onto the patio and Palm Canyon Drive in downtown Palm Springs. Love it!

Solar Flares Cause Radio Blackouts

One photograph from this morning… Over the last 24 hours Solar Flares have caused numerous minor to moderate radio blackouts across the globe. The most active Sunspot area, designated AR3664, has been estimated to range from 81 – 99 individual Sunspots and as large an area as over 7 times the size of the Earth. 05-09-2024 Palm Springs California
