OK Now What?
We got this far. Now what is the next step? Microwave?
That is why I am the photographer.
8 Miles
I call this my exercise and weight loss days at the Palm Springs Air Museum. Not unlike doing an all day obstacle course. It does not include carrying and loading parachutes in airplanes, lifting and placing tow bars, carrying fire extinguishers, placing wheel chocks, moving airplanes, opening and closing rolling gates on the ramp, loading riders and safety briefing them, marshaling airplanes in and out, cleaning canopies, or any number of other things that go on. Yesterday 7:30am to 5:00pm. Yeah but it is all fun!
Sumo
A truly superb documentary about photographer Helmut Newton. Certainly my most admired and that of many more over the decades. From 2004 on the introduction of the giant volume of his works by Taschen. Long since sold out but last available for $22,500. https://www.taschen.com/…/blog/1485.exclusive_preview.htm
Does Sex Still Sell Fashion?
A very interesting story from Vogue UK…
“As BABY SUMO, a masterpiece reworking of Helmut Newton’s seminal tome, hits shelves on what would have been the photographer’s 100th birthday, Vogue asks if sex really does still sell women’s fashion?”
“It’s an interesting moment to rerelease SUMO (1999), the 464-page Helmut Newton monograph that weighed 35kg and came with a specially designed Philippe Starck stand. To meet the current moment, it has been redesigned: now called BABY SUMO, it’s half the size and relatively speaking, it’s reasonably priced at £1,000. (The signed first-edition of SUMO became the most expensive book of the 20th century when it sold at auction in Berlin for 620,000DM in 2000, approximately £506k today.)”

1946 Super Cruiser
Flying over my backyard, a 1946 Piper PA-12 Super Cruiser. It actually belongs to a buddy of mine. He said he was out doing 35mph approaches and landing in about 75ft. Shooting with my Fujifilm X-H1 camera and the Fujifilm XF100-400 lens.
Morning Moon
The Moon photographed in the morning at 8:04am on November 4 2020 here in Palm Springs from my backyard. Fujifilm X-H1 camera and the Fujifilm XF100-400 lens, handheld.
Actually it was shooting photographs through my homemade eight inch reflecting telescope at the night skies back when I was 12 years old that really got me first interested in photography. Back then I had a Miranda 35mm camera that I had bought for $35.00. Funny thing that I remember.
I was the youngest member ever of the Astronomical Society Of The Pacific.
Fine Art Photography
The question came up the other day; “What is fine art photography?”. I am not sure but here is my effort at it. The model is Aristodeme. A Hasselblad digital camera system and Broncolor lighting. The art print from the Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena California. I am liking my interpretation of it better than by itself.
Warning Signs
Public art along El Paseo in Palm Desert California. I decided to call them “Warning Signs”.
Fleetline
A Chevrolet Fleetline parked on El Paseo in Palm Desert California. That is all I know. One thing about El Paseo is that you always see some fun cars. Classics, and I saw one red Ferrari, one black Ferrari, one black McLaren and as usual for Palm Desert, a few Bentley’s.
Noel In A Chair
Noel in a chair that has been in my life for 36 years. Studio photo shoot with a Hasselblad digital camera system and Broncolor lighting. Makeup and Hair Styling by Estee Lauder featured artist Blanche LeBeau.

Olympia 3 Of The Best
Three of the best bodybuilders of all time; Dexter Jackson, Jay Cutler and Phil Heath. One of the many Mr. Olympia’s in Las Vegas I photographed for Bodybuilding.com and many of the bodybuilding and fitness magazines.
Back To School
Back To School needs have changed over the years. A street scene I photographed in Montreal Canada.
Vamps and Flappers
Certainly got my attention. I like this idea of wardrobe for a photo shoot. From the Facebook group Vamps and Flappers of the 1920’s, 1920’s, and early 1930’s.
“Actress Lorraine Marshall in the 1933 film “Footlight Parade”. Marshall was a bit actress and dancer in many pre-code film and early talkies, including “It’s Great To Be Alive” (1933) and “I’ve Got Your Number” (1934).
Randalene
I have said it before, one of the most beautiful women I have ever photographed. And I have photographed her many times. My buddy Randalene Sergent. Makeup and hair styling by Natalie Lyle.
Mustangs In The Air
Flying back from the Reno Air Races a couple of years ago. Mark Moodie flying “Lady Alice” and Michael Pfleger flying “Lady B”. I was in the Palm Springs Air Museum P-51 Mustang “Bunny”. It would have been great to have been in another aircraft to photograph all three.
Future Girl
Photographed by me at Photoshop World in Las Vegas a few years ago. It was at the Westcott Lighting exhibit. The model is Chelsea Dawn based in Las Vegas and an incredibly versatile and very busy model. I sure do miss events like this for many reasons.
Helmut Newton Budapest
My favorite photographer, Helmut Newton. His work was unique, creative, original, as well as often erotic and termed “Porno Chic”. April 2013, I arrived in Budapest to be the special stills photographer on a motion picture.
As the studio car drove me from the airport through Heroes Square to my hotel, we passed the Museum Of Fine Arts. I said to myself, my first day off, I would go see this Helmut Newton Exhibit. Indeed I did! It was a huge exhibit including some of his more commercial fashion work in color. Huge prints in beautiful color it was. A great start for what was seven weeks for me in Budapest.
RCAF CF-18
An amazing looking aircraft, a Royal Canadian Air Force CF-18 visiting us at the Palm Springs Air Museum. Makes it easy to shoot a colorful exciting photograph.
Laying Around
Not unusual for me at all. And it can be very restful. Women’s shoe fashion photo shoot. Hasselblad digital camera system and Broncolor lighting.
Perfect Poolside Workout
The perfect poolside workout with a perfect Catherine Kwong in front of my camera. Hasselblad digital camera system and Broncolor lighting. Makeup Artist Natalie Lyle.
Bombay Beach Sunset
Sunset at Bombay Beach on a very windy and moody day over the Salton Sea. Hasselblad digital camera system.
C-17 Take Off
A C-17 Globemaster III taking off at March Air Reserve Base. I just happened to be there with one of my Fujifilm X series cameras.
