From our photo shoot with the gorgeous 56 year old Tammy Neslund. She is one incredibly fit Grandma and certainly a role model to be nude in our shoot. Love these throw back look instant print photographs with a Fujifilm Instax camera. The wonderful makeup by Estee Lauder featured artist Blanche LeBeau. At the Coachella Movie Ranch.
Tammy Neslund, age 56, mother of two and grandmother. Being fit and healthy is better and is the fountain of youth!
Just happened to see this, although I am tagged. Two days of shooting with the then Jamie Eason for Bodybuilding.com. Jamie went on to be one of the most successful fitness models and fitness spokespersons of all time.
She said it not me… From a series I did for Bodybuilding.com. You will see me hard at work. The photographs went on to be magazine ads and features too. Thanks!
An outstanding workout series I photographed over a few days with IFBB Figure Professional Ava Cowan. “Professional” for sure when it comes to Ava!
And be sure to “Like” the Facebook page for our gym shoot location Palm Springs Fitness Center, my favorite gym and to keep up with my posting over there as Social Media Manager. It helps me a lot and I promise to make it fun! Thanks!
Deadlifts done right with IFBB Professional Figure Competitor Ava Cowan…
With feet flat beneath bar, squat down and grasp bar with shoulder width or slightly wider overhand or mixed grip. Start with light weight to not only warm up but to determine what you are capable of lifting.
The addition of wrist straps can great improve your ability to perform multiple reps as well as more weight. If no straps are used, a mixed grip is a great way to grip the bar.
Start with 2 sets of 15 reps before moving into working weight.
Lift bar by extending hips and knees to full extension, keeping the bar close to the body throughout the movement. Keep your back flat throughout the exercise and pull shoulders back being mindful not to round the shoulders. Also, keep knees pointing the same direction as your feet. Return and repeat.
The simplified version of the muscles used are:
The grip strength (finger flexors) and the lower back (erector spinae) work isometrically to keep the bar held in the hands and to keep the spine from rounding.
The gluteus maximus and hamstrings work to extend the hip joint.
The quadriceps work to extend the knee joint.
The adductor magnus works to stabilize the legs.
Core musculature remains braced to stabilize the spine.
One of my favorite photo shoots ever. Spending four days in a gym and evenings poolside photographing Ava Cowan. The best!
There is an actual purpose for all of those mirrors in the gym. Just like IFBB Figure Pro Ava is doing here. Watch your form, the movement of the muscles as you do your lifts. It will get you in touch with actually what is happening and also keep you doing things right.
Ava was here at Palm Springs Fitness Center week doing a photo shoot for a workout magazine series. One of the most respected and admired women in the fitness business. Thanks Ava Cowan!
Do I love photographing beautiful women with incredible bodies? Yes! My good buddy Stacey Naito. Thank You!
Makeup and Hair Styling by the incredible Blanche Le Beau.
One of the most incredible women ever in the world of fitness, Ava Cowan. The video and photo shoot we did for Bodybuilding.com promotions and advertising. Her body, her eyes, her movements… Ava is a magnificent work of art.
I have been having great fun with short videos and especially “behind the scenes” in my photo shoots. The idea for me comes from a series I had done for Bodybuilding.com for their ad campaigns promoting “BodySpace”. Then a new social media concept for fitness people that when I came into the picture had only 7,000 members and then grew to millions. That in turn helped grow the company to perhaps pushing towards a billion dollars of sales annually.
The videos were shot with a video crew and built around my photo shoots for the print and online advertising, features and content such as online wallpaper. The ads we produced are some of my all time favorites and appeared in magazines monthly for a long time. One of the print ads became a favorite for women, affixed to their refrigerator doors as fitness and workout motivation. I dare say the same ad was torn out and taped next to many a guy’s office wall or truck dashboard. So here is a favorite and watch for the “behind the scenes”.
How to beat the heat during the Summer here in Palm Springs… Get in the pool and become the heat! Andrea Schulze in our photo shoot.
Behind the scenes in my photo shoot with Kerstin Schulze and Andrea Schulze in Palm Springs. They both live a lifestyle of health and fitness. Kerstin a long time fitness competitor and Andrea just walking away with her first competition trophies. Both 6ft tall and identical twins. Both gorgeous, fun, outgoing and both women to respect and admire in how they carry themselves in life. For now I will not tell you who is who, just for fun, because they are so very identical. I want to keep you guessing and intrigued lol!
The actual photos here on my Blog soon. The wonderful double duty Makeup styling by premier, world traveling, Estee Lauder artist Blanche LeBeau. The camera system up for this task is Hasselblad and the lighting by Broncolor. Nothing but the best! Thanks!
Behind the scenes yesterday here in Palm Springs with two amazing and beautiful and wonderful women of fitness, Kerstin Schulze and Andrea Schulze! Double duty makeup styling by the premier Estee Lauder artist Blanche LeBeau! Photos soon!
In my years as a photographer in the world of bodybuilding and fitness, I have for a long time been asked many times over and over…. “Have you ever photographed ________?”. And the person I always get asked about more often than any other has always been this glorious, gorgeous, wonderful creature on Earth…. Ava Cowan. One of the world’s best known, most popular and respected IFBB Figure Pro’s ever. Over 1,000,000 Facebook fans alone. So the answer is Yes, I have photographed Ava Cowan!
Spokesperson and fitness model for Bodybuilding.com made her one of the most famous and respected and admired women in fitness, Jamie Eason. Her first photo shoot for Bodybuilding.com for their advertising, online and magazine features and so much more that followed… photographed by me.
One of my most favorite gym fitness photographs of one of my most favorite incredibly beautiful models, Randalene Sergent. Makeup and hair styling by yet another favorite Natalie Lyle.
Photo shoots with the most beautiful fit women on the planet. I do that! The incredibly magnificent Ava Cowan.
Stacey Naito one of the most extraordinary women I have ever had in front of my camera. She brought her authentic Japanese Katana to the photo shoot. The sharpness, quality, curved, powerful and distinctive beauty of the sword is readily matched by that of Stacey herself. Thank You to Blanche LeBeau for her art of makeup and hair styling.
A selfie from my buddy Tani Correia. Tani had made it into the world of fitness being featured in the magazines and pretty well known. But as she has self confessed along the way, she had a difficult time maintaining her condition. Not long ago Tani told me that she was going to make her way back. Actually I am not really sure how much time elapsed, I just know she sure did it! What a rockin’ body!
So for the first day of 2017, Tani is the motivation that many of us need. By the way, Tani told me many times that one of her motivations was to come do a photo shoot with me. I love that!
Not necessarily! Check out the bicep and shoulder in the mirror on Joanna Johnson. Now check out the weights she is using. You do not need to always use huge heavy weights to build an incredible physique. It is all about doing it right! Everyone is different. From our photo shoot, Thanks!
