Thank You Emily Hayworth for being so gorgeous and fun in front of my camera at the Palm Springs Photo Festival. Actually a borrowed camera, a Phase One IQ250 medium format 50 mpx digital system. It really does shoot beautifully! So Thanks to Morgan Acaldo from Phase One for handing over $40,000 or $50,000 of camera and lens on the spur of the moment! Great camera system, but Emily made my day!

Walk Around With Leica S2 And Nipple Alert!
A wonderful sculpture in front of the Elena Bulatova Gallery in Palm Springs. I did a walk of street photography yesterday with a Leica S2 Medium Format digital camera. For you photography folks out there, it is a 37.5 megapixel camera with the expected optics of Leica lenses. Certainly the most expensive camera I have ever used for street photography coming in at almost $30,000. Part of my week at the Palm Springs Photo Festival.
Nipple alert even on a sculpture, I only felt safe putting a censored version of this photograph on Facebook. Unfortunate because it really is a integral part of this art.
Ann Margret, Douglas Kirkland, Palm Springs Photo Festival
Last night another great program at the Palm Springs Photo Festival. This time a panel discussion including photographer Douglas Kirkland. A man I find especially intriguing because of his overwhelming enthusiasm and excitement even at now 80 years old. Douglas Kirkland has photographed on the sets of over 100 of the most iconic movies, photographed the most famous people on the planet around the world, and been his photo features in endless magazines. His photographs are among the most famous from people like Marilyn Monroe to this wonderful photograph of actress and star Ann Margret.
The Palm Springs Photo Festival is an incredible week long event inclusive of workshops, seminars, presentations, symposiums and parties going from early in the morning to early morning again in the night. In it’s 9th year I have only missed it twice. The first year when I was in Columbus Ohio for the ” Arnold” and only caught the first and last evening parties. And last year when I was in Budapest for 7 weeks, myself shooting on a motion picture.
Guys Want To Look Good Naked Too!
Guys want to look good naked too! David Santapaola has been hitting the gym, not only to look good, but also because it is his part of his chosen career path. From being a United States Marine to his job with a high level specialized security group, if you check out his photos on his Facebook page you will see he is an “action” kind of guy. No balancing on no pastel colored exercise balls in the gym for this guy! Keep It Going!
I invite you to send me your selfies and I will show you off here on my Blog and on my Facebook pages. Girls and guys, whatever you want to send. In the gym, showing off the hard work you have put in, at the pool, just having fun. Anything a little too edgy for Facebook will go on my Blog and I will safely share it here. You don’t have to have ever done a photo shoot with me or even met me in person. It will also be a great way for me to see you and talk about photo shoots. Let’s do this, it’s all fun!
You must send me the selfie as a to my e-mail at SecondFocus@mac.com or as a message on Facebook. I will say that I might have to pick and choose to make it manageable and hold some or change when I decide to post them for one reason or another. Thanks!
One Of Only Three Zero’s Still Flying In The World
One of only three World War II Japanese Zero’s still flying in the entire world. In the skies over the Palm Springs Airport courtesy of the Palm Springs Air Museum earlier today. This Zero, owned and operated by the Commemorative Air Force, was delivered to the Imperial Japanese Navy Air Group #3. It originally had an air cooled rotary engine producing 1,130 hp and a top speed of 388 mph at almost 20,000 feet. In today’s flight demonstration you could easily see it’s nimble and powerful maneuverability. I also have video which I will post here in the next day or two. Very Fun! Here is the video I shot of the Zero starting up and heading out to taxi. https://vimeo.com/93085158
Her Dark Warrior!
Her inner strength becomes her Dark Warrior! Stacey Naito, an Ifbb Pro, who has become well known and admired in our sport of bodybuilding and fitness, has always been a huge fan or photography and being a creative force in her own photographs. Not that long ago we channeled her strengths into a unique dark edgy look in our gym photo shoot. Now we have her inner Dark Warrior coming alive! I Love It!
Lots of Thank You’s here! Blanche LeBeau for her Makeup and Hair Styling and matching the ideas with the wardrobe. Jaime Klein, a wonderful photographer himself, for hosting us at his studio. My assistant Clyde Sawyer, for doing the lifting, carrying and driving, all more important than I can tell you. And Dan Cuny of Profoto USA for loaning me one of their new B1 wireless strobes. This was one B1 strobe, sunlight coming in from down a long hallway area, and some overhead “sulphur lights”. And of course the amazing Stacey Naito, who is eternally beautiful. always fun, and built herself one rocking body! Thank You All!
Nope This Was Not The Model!
Nope, Jaime Klein was not my model yesterday. However he did stand in while I was setting up lighting for the photo shoot while my real model was getting ready for our last set up of the day. I have to Thank Jaime for the use of his photo studio yesterday in L.A. This is actually outside of the studio in the back drive up area.
Jaime is as well, a superb photographer specializing in portrait headshots for actors and corporations, law firms and such. If you are in L.A. and looking for a cut above, please visit Jaime. I am not even begin to tell you how long I know this guy!
The lighting I was setting up was a Profoto USA B1 wireless off camera strobe. For my photographer friends, I can tell you that this is one convenient strobe in a small convenient design. One small bag and you are good to go. Battery operated and wireless control from a little touch pad on the top of your camera. Very Cool. So I must Thank my friend Dan Cuny from Profoto for letting me try it out.
You will be seeing a photograph with the real model from this shoot here on my Blog and Website and Facebook tomorrow morning. I can tell you right now, it is nothing what you might be expecting. Very Fun! You will like this one!
