This is fun… My photograph submission has been selected for the juried Artists Council Exhibition (ACE Show) 2024 at the Artists Center at the Galen in Palm Desert California. Previously the Galen was the East Exhibition Facility for the Palm Springs Art Museum. The show will run from February 7 through March 3rd. The ticketed opening reception is Friday February 9th, 5-7PM. It is always a sold out event. I am not showing the photograph online for now. Tickets for the opening reception available here… http://tinyurl.com/2ma7r5n3 Thanks!
The continued assembly of the Aluminaire House at the Palm Springs Art Museum. The Aluminaire House created in 1931 by architects A. Lawrence Kocher and Albert Frey. Designed as a case study, three stories high. 01-10-2024
Very windy this morning but mostly over by 10am. Time-lapse makes it look very busy. Watch for a few airliners streaking through the sky. 01-11-2024 Palm Springs California
This is a good view of the airport in Thermal from flying Saturday. It is actually Jacqueline Cochran Regional Airport. It is being considered for the new location for the Reno Air Races. 01-06-2024 Thermal California
Flying out of the airport in Thermal takes you over the BMW Performance Center where people can drive high performance BMW’s on these two tracks. The circular track is highly polished concrete which can be sprayed with water. The cars easily hydroplane and spin. I have done it and it is almost as much fun as flying. 01-06-2024 Thermal California
Flying around the Salton Sea… One of eleven power stations of the Imperial Valley Geothermal Project. The area is the second largest Geothermal field in the United States. Lithium extraction and Geothermal power are expected to provide the financial resources to restore the Salton Sea and huge economic benefits to the region. 01-06-2024
It was a beautiful day to be flying around the Salton Sea. Perfectly clear and warm out, and the Sea was very blue.
However being familiar with the Sea since 2003, I can see the changes. The small lake, just one year ago, was an outlet to the Salton Sea. In prior years at the height of the popularity of the Sea, it had a busy boat ramp and even a fishing supply and bait shop. The shrinking of the Salton Sea continues at an alarming rate and poses a significant ecological disaster. 01-06-2024
Keeping up my interest in aviation, this was a design I thought was good for a future flight suit for women. Model Kajira saying what one might expect “Is This What You Wanted To See?” From our photoshoot.
Overnight time-lapse. Numerous meteors from different directions. Some would be attributed to the Quadrantid shower which is known for very bright fireball meteors. 01-03-2023 Palm Springs California
From our photoshoot. Fitness icon and twice Playboy Brazil centerfold, Larissa Reis. Makeup and hair stylist and all around shoot assistant Natalie Lyle. This was a fun shoot that was in a gym, poolside and more.
A graffiti art installation on old televisions at Bombay Beach at the Salton Sea. I have been going to the Salton Sea since 2003. The changes in the last few years at Bombay Beach have been amazing with the influx of the arts community. 12-31-2023
Do you see it? Look close. One of the most dangerous creatures in Joshua Tree National Park. The Cholla known as the Jumping Cactus. It does not actually jump but has very sharp spines with barbs that easily detach from the plant and snagging anyone nearby. The Cholla Gardens in the Park have sidewalks so people can safely walk through and warning signs. However it is somewhat amusing to see visitors walk through in typical shorts and flip-flops venturing off the path. It must keep the Park Rangers very busy with first aid.
Some time back my large color checker went missing. Probably got left in a gym during a shoot. Now I can’t find my small version. I am sure it will turn up but probably will have to buy a new one until then. Makes me feel better about color matching under different lighting when it is color critical.
