Tea And Mufflers

For those days when you would like to have a soothing afternoon tea with friends while getting your muffler swapped out. On a Photo Excursion in Jurupa Valley, Southern California.

All Gone At The Salton Sea

It was at the North Shore near the Yacht Club. I photographed what was left in 2010. Nothing there now at all.

Windmill Tours

Here in Palm Springs we have windmill farms and they offer tours. I prefer to do my own. Here with my good buddy and fitness icon Sherry Goggin.

Returning to…

Looking forward to getting back to photographing people, fitness, fashion and more. My buddy Ashley in one of our photoshoots. Here after her appearance at the NPC National Figure Competition in Las Vegas. Makeup and hair styling by Natalie Lyle.

The Bus

This was a big shoot. One of the print advertisements planned for the year for Bodybuilding.com. One of the largest health and fitness retailers in the country and all online. I will only say that ultimately their sales did not reach one billion dollars per year, but it was a reasonable goal.

First I needed to rent a city bus. Went to Regional Transit Service “The Movie Bus People” in Riverside California and picked one out. Arranged for it to be driven to our location, the back parking lot at Gold’s Gym Venice.

Also arranged, a power generator for the lighting. The lighting was all along the length of the right side windows of the bus. Trucks, SUV’s and other vehicles along the left side of the bus to make it look like it was in traffic. Fitness people arranged ahead of time, and I knew if I needed more I could run into Gold’s where I knew many and could hire more. I had someone writing checks on the spot. We had wardrobe on hand for everyone which they got to keep. I had an automobile glass company on standby, if I wanted to pull the front windshield off the bus to get a different angle. Film L.A. delivered my film permit by courier that morning.

It was great fun seeing the early morning start from an empty parking lot, fill up as everything and everyone arrived and went into place. And then see it all leave and at the end of the day and return to an empty parking lot.

EAT

A scene that would seem otherwise mundane but for an interesting sign. As the Sun was setting in Cabazon California. On a Photo Excursion.

All The Best Foods

Donuts, Chinese food, fried chicken, all within steps of each other. Americana on a Photo Excursion near Rubidoux California.

Burger King

Sometimes I find what we take for granted or just overlook can make for interesting photographs. Burger King in Cabazon California on a Photo Excursion.

Drive-In

The Rubidoux Drive-In, of course in Rubidoux, Southern California. Photographed on a recent Photo Excursion. Drive-ins are nostalgic for some of us.

Warbirds In Print

Always great seeing my photographs in print. An ongoing monthly ad in Air Classics Magazine for the Palm Springs Air Museum.

Bye Bye

Metrolink train leaving the station. From a Photo Excursion in Riverside California.

Metrolink Train At The Station

A Metrolink train at the station in Riverside California. From a Photo Excursion yesterday.

Train Going By

Some freight train action today on a photo excursion.

Union Pacific Parade Of Colors

So very colorful. A long train to watch but worth it for the view and sound. Video shot near Cabazon California just this morning. Fujifilm X-H1 camera.

Banana Museum T-Shirt

I had forgot I had this. Purchased at the International Banana Museum at the Salton Sea. This enticing banana is the entire back so it really stands out. A smaller one on the front. Funny how it would likely be banned on Facebook and Instagram.

Southwest

Southwest has been flying in and out of Palm Springs now. Actually quite a few flights and they sure are colorful. Photographed during a meet up with some of my photographer friends.

Typewriters

How many of you remember using a typewriter. Not as old as this one but I sure did. Like film cameras and vinyl records, I understand that typewriters are also making a comeback. I photographed this one on film to be appropriate. Found in Pioneertown California.

Ashley

I do love photographing beautiful women. I have photographed my buddy Ashley a few times. Waiting and watching something going on here.

What Does It Say?

Just something you would drive by and ignore. Trash, graffiti on an abandoned billboard, and in the distance a high rise casino resort. As a scene what does it say? From a photo excursion.

Trash, graffiti on an abandoned billboard, and the Casino Morongo along a freeway frontage road in Cabazon CA.

Billboards

Somehow when you see the billboards in their entirety and location, it negates the message. On the frontage road along the 10 Freeway near Cabazon on the way to Palm Springs.

Economical

When shooting film, I have learned that it is more economical to photograph with two models at the same time. I will have to remember to do that more often.

Trains

I do also like photographing trains. I will have to do that more often. This was in Tucson on a multi-day photo excursion. Fujifilm X-Series camera using the Velvia film emulation.

With Her Shadow

Model Aristodeme in a coat with her shadow. Nothing else. Hasselblad digital camera system and Broncolor lighting.

Manzanar Fire Department

January 6th has become a historic date for many wrong reasons. This year January 6th 2021 I was at home. January 6th 2017 I was at the World War II Manzanar Internment Camp on a multi-day Death Valley photo excursion. Photographed with a Hasselblad digital camera system.
