I started up the video component of my work again. I had let it lapse for some time. On July 10th I renewed it and have been uploading my first explorations in video. Mostly somewhat behind the scenes of my photoshoots. Handheld cameras, short video clips, somewhat explicit. I think today looking back, they are great fun. And I guess my viewers do too. 🌭 National Hot Dog Day is here! 🌭 Hot dogs have come a long way since they were first sold in 1870 at Coney Island. Now, they’re a summer and baseball staple, with 150 million hot dogs eaten every July 4th! Check out my photo of the original Mustard Dog and Kraut Dog from Wienerschnitzel. It’s National French Fry Day! Originally on July 13th, it’s now celebrated on the 2nd Friday of July so it always falls on a Fry-day! On this day, July 7th in 1928, sliced bread was first sold, revolutionizing the baking industry! It was promoted as “the greatest forward step in the baking industry since bread was wrapped.” Many of us fondly remember Wonder Bread sandwiches in our lunchboxes. Wonder Bread was one of the first brands to sell sliced bread in 1930, becoming an icon in the process. July 4th makes me think of ice cream. Not sure why, I really almost never eat ice cream. Did you know vanilla is the most popular flavor worldwide, followed by chocolate and strawberry? Today is National Onion Day! So to celebrate I photographed red, yellow, white and sweet brown onions. Four of each weighing a total of almost 15 pounds. No persons were injured during this photo shoot however I did weep some. 06-27-2024 Palm Springs California
The Strawberry Moon is the first full moon of Summer when it occurs on the Solstice. It only happens every 19 – 20 years. Native American Tribles named it to match the short harvest time for Strawberries. It appears reddish because it’s close to the horizon and the lowest full Moon of the year. 06-21-2024 Palm Springs California
Happy National Onion Rings Day, June 22nd The origin of onion rings dates back to 1802, with a recipe called “Fried Onions with Parmesan Cheese” featured in John Mollard’s cookbook, The Art of Cookery Made Easy and Refined. This early recipe recommends slicing onions into 1/2 inch rings, coating them in a batter made of flour, cream, salt, pepper, and Parmesan cheese, and then deep-frying them in boiling lard.

The two large Sunspot areas to the right, designated AR3712 and AR3713, have grown significantly in size to 3900 million square kilometers and 3300 million square kilometers. The dark lower Sunspot area AR3719, has become very active releasing an impulsive flare causing a radio blackout over the Pacific Ocean. 06-21-2024 Palm Springs California
I often get asked what I use for my Solar and Lunar photography. This is it… Fujifilm X-T3 camera body, 2x extender, 100-400mm lens. I use a Fujifilm cable release although sometimes I use the Fujifilm app on my iPhone. The Solar filter is from Thousand Oaks Optical. It is on a tall Induro tripod. But what really made things easier is this Benro geared head. The pool is optional. Thanks!
