Today is National Blue Jeans Day, a date built on more than a century of denim evolving from sturdy workwear to one of the most adaptable pieces in fashion. Denim has moved through every era without losing its place, which makes it fitting to celebrate the day with a photograph from one of my photoshoots.
Here the jeans do exactly what denim has always done, hold their ground. Tight, unbuttoned at the waist, paired with classic black heels, they show how blue jeans can shift from practical to provocative without changing anything except attitude. Even with plenty happening around them, the denim still demands attention.
So yes, try to stay focused. It is, after all, National Blue Jeans Day.
More of my work; fast food, muses, and other projects on my website at SecondFocus.com Thanks!

A tie-dye sheet I purchased from a roadside vendor. I found the perfect one-time use for it with model Maria Eriksson. A three time Playboy Playmate, fashion model for top London designers, she has also appeared numerous times in Maxim and FHM Magazines around the world. 2010 Playboy’s Top 100 Sexiest Women. Once a full time science teacher teaching Physics, Biology and Chemistry. More on my website at SecondFocus.com Thanks!
1 of 100 of Amber. A new gallery on my website. https://www.secondfocus.com/index/G00001T6dGZnl5K4 A day’s shooting of 519 photographs. This is my selection of 100. Usually from a photoshoot we only select a few. Spend time with a lot of editing. But I find it sad not to show more from a shoot. The expressions, the movements, the beauty as I saw it and I photographed it. Please visit the gallery and let me know what you think. Thanks! https://www.secondfocus.com/index/G00001T6dGZnl5K4
So very many of my photoshoots that I have not shown yet. But I am working to do that now that I have more time. They will be on my website, galleries, books. For simplicity I am going alphabetically, at least for the moment. Much more of model Amber Flowers soon. My website at SecondFocus.com
A beautiful woman wearing a chainmaille cape walking on a city pedestrian bridge. Created in AI. Not the same as photographing a woman in chainmaille as I have been doing a few times.
A studio fashion photoshoot. However created in AI. The tell-tale sign that I am not the photographer in the scene… I don’t have that much hair on my head.
Almost a scene out of a movie. Finding a beautiful elegantly dressed woman at the hotel bar. Of course I would shoot a photograph. I love candid photographs. Another of my new attempts at AI.
Today in Beverly Hills. I asked of she would stop so I could shoot a photo. Not really, my 2nd attempt at an AI image. I do find it fascinating. But not as fascinating as actually being there and shooting photographs. March 19 2024
Another extraordinary creation by artist Jerry L. Hanson. This Chainmaille dress created from 20,000 individual links. So very unique as are each of his works of fashion art. Modeled by my beautiful friend WBFF Bikini World Champion Heidi Cannon, in front of my camera, here in Palm Springs California. January 30 2024.
This is art as fashion. A one of the kind creation by artist Jerry L. Hanson. A Chainmaille dress created from 22,000 individual links. Not to be duplicated and perhaps priceless. Beautifully modeled by my friend WBFF Bikini World Champion Heidi Cannon, in front of my camera, here in Palm Springs California. January 30 2024.
Palm Springs California is a favorite destination for Canadians. However it is very special to get WBFF Bikini World Champion poolside in Palm Springs in front of my camera. 01-30-2024
Keeping up my interest in aviation, this was a design I thought was good for a future flight suit for women. Model Kajira saying what one might expect “Is This What You Wanted To See?” From our photoshoot.
Amber Flowers in front of my camera, my lighting and in my pool in my backyard. The camera is Hasselblad digital, the lighting is Broncolor. Palm Springs California.
“Killer Heels” a superb exhibit of high heels and more at the Palm Springs Art Museum. From sexy to kinky to fashion to fun. Did I mention sexy and kinky! Got my attention. There are three video installations as well and they are just incredible! I will be going back again but here are some photographs of a few for now. So much art and craftsmanship in these designs!
First a 2012 Prada Sandal that evokes a Mid-Century Modern car design very appropriate for Palm Springs.
Then a sexy bright red 2012 – 2013 Heel by Giuseppe Zanotti.
Pump 2013 Springs/Summer with gold and clear Swarovski crystals by Nicholas Kirkwood. Behind them, 1959 black pumps by Salvatore Ferragamo worn by Marilyn Monroe.
And for those of you who have not taken that “Walk On That Wild Side”, Lou Reed…
Since my photo shoot for ShoeEnvy I have been more conscious of shoes as stand alone art. Women’s shoes for me have been that to complement the beautiful women I photograph. Taken by themselves however, women’s shoes especially, exhibit tremendous creativity. These shoes on display at the Musée du costume et du textile du Québec. the Museum of Costume and Textile of Quebec in Montreal. Next I will have to get over to the Palm Springs Art Museum to see their new exhibit “Killer Heels: The Art of the High-Heeled Shoe“.
She is 56 years old! Born in 1959! Katie Madden is everything all about fitness and healthy living and the gym. This woman is what I call motivation!
Poolside in Palm Springs with wonderful Makeup and Hair Styling by Natalie Lyle. From our photo shoot with a Hasselblad medium format digital camera system. Lighting courtesy of 350 days of Sun here in Palm Springs. Body by Katie Madden!
Store window displays can be fun. But why don’t we see more people dressed like this with such great hair too. Be adventuresome I say! Along El Paseo in Palm Desert.
Saw the documentary “Advanced Style” today. What a great and creative movie about life and getting a little older and having fun. Catch it in the theaters. You will be happy you did!
Could you not just see this magnificent beautiful woman on the Venice Beach boardwalk back in 1968 and then again now. The very fashionable Maria Bertrand.
The now famous sign at the Ace Hotel & Swim Club here in Palm Springs. I say famous because after it’s opening, you quickly saw the Ace and it”s pools and this sign in lifestyle and fashion magazines around the world. Magazines and fashion houses quickly embraced the quirkiness and very cool vibe of the place. I enjoy it myself a lot! Very fun!
