Fine Art Photography
The question came up the other day; “What is fine art photography?”. I am not sure but here is my effort at it. The model is Aristodeme. A Hasselblad digital camera system and Broncolor lighting. The art print from the Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena California. I am liking my interpretation of it better than by itself.

Continuing my theme of shooting with instant cameras. Here is a series I shot during our photo shoot where I brought out an old folding Polaroid SX-70. Again I love the look of instant photos and especially here, the somewhat mid 1960’s film color palette. With model Jamie Lovelle.

Objectifying Women
Occasionally I get accused of objectifying women in my photographs. Far from it, I am only guilty of showing these women as powerful in their beauty and sexuality; with or without clothes. To quote famed photographer Helmut Newton… “My women are always victorious.”

Yes She Is Naked
Shauna Toerner from our photo shoot. This is one of the instant film photos I shot for fun and I really love the look of instant film. This was Fujifilm Instax but I also shoot Polaroid cameras with Fujifilm and film from the Impossible Project which is now Polaroid Originals.
By the way Shauna is an incredible model and looks gorgeous naked. I get to say that because I have always loved the art of women nude or semi-nude in photography. For decades if you walked me into a museum and there was the work of Helmut Newton or some other famous photographer shooting in the genre of “Porno Chic” that is where you found me. The genre now also appears as “Naked Chic” and can be seen in high end lifestyle and fashion magazines across the more extensive shelves of a bigger city Barnes & Noble and major city magazine stands. Indeed a mainstay in the rest of the world, just too much for our timid U.S. archaic values.
Personally I like the look and fun of Porno Chic and Naked Chic and that is why I shoot it. I also like poking fun at society and it’s ill conceived prudishness. My only problem is mixing it in with my own mainstream work in such diverse areas as aviation, fitness, and bodybuilding. My more fashion work is OK with it. So I had gone back to hiding it away. But no fun in that and I have been around long enough to do what I want. So watch for more here on my Blog.
