Questions
Visitors ask me a lot of questions at the Palm Springs Air Museum. This past weekend the most asked was “what is the biggest airplane that comes in to the Palm Springs Airport?”. For simplicity I just answer Air Force One. People were very surprised.
Norway To Palm Springs
There is a good story behind this video. A couple of years ago Rune Optun from Norway came and flew with us at the Palm Springs Air Museum. Rune is a true aviation enthusiast as are many of us. Rune and I have remained friends across Facebook. And this weekend he came back to the Air Museum and flew in our P-51 Mustang “Bunny” and our T-28B Trojan.
This is Rune going out in the T-28. So I have to give a big plus for Facebook for giving us the opportunity to maintain friendships across the world and across time. And for our mutual love of aviation.
T-34 Mentor Fly-In
| The annual T-34 “Mentor” Fly-In just this past weekend. Sponsored by the Air Force Association Palm Springs and the Palm Springs Air Museum.Developed as a replacement for the training aircraft of World War II, the T-34 Mentor still remains in service today as the T-34C Turbo Mentor. Many of the original T-34’s are privately owned. |

The “Movie Memphis Belle”
Now at home at the Palm Springs Air Museum. It flew in about a month ago.The actual B-17 “Flying Fortress” from the 1990 motion picture “Memphis Belle”. Look for it flying in later 2022.
Fountain Of Life
Last night…. The Fountain at the Cathedral City Civic Center. Designed and built by two good friends of ours…
“The Fountain of Life was designed by artist Jennifer Johnson in coordination with architect Reuel Young, A.I.A. It was built by House of Stone and Fountains and Landscape Enhancements. Artisans whose families have sculpted stone for more than 600 years carved the fountain pieces out of adoquin stone from a quarry near Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. Once the individual pieces arrived in the desert, Johnson spent more than a year adorning the fountain with hand cut mosaic tiles and glass.”

Air Shows 2022
Last week at ICAS in Las Vegas for the Palm Springs Air Museum. The International Council Of Air Shows. Our aircraft will be at air shows in 2022 for performing, VIP, sponsor and ride flights.

Reno Air Races 2021
Saturday morning I fly up to the Reno Air Races. I am on the team for the Palm Springs Air Museum. We are racing three airplanes, two P-51 Mustangs and a P-63 Kingcobra. We are also flying up our T-6 and a C-47. An entire Air Force! I will be flying up in another P-51 Mustang but if one of these guys could take me with them that would be great. I am all about being time efficient. Less travel time is good. Thanks in advance Thunderbirds if you could stop by and pick me up. Photograph from the 2019 Reno Air Races.

National Aviation Day
It is National Aviation Day as well as being National Photography Day. Both work for me! In the Palm Springs Air Museum T-33.
National Photography Day
So today is National Photography Day. My friends are all posting photos of their first cameras. Mine actually was a Kodak Brownie. But my first serious camera was a Miranda Model F. This was around 1963. I primarily used it attached to my 8 inch reflector telescope for astronomy. As I best recall it cost me $35.00.

Photo Competition
