Clouds over Palm Springs yesterday in the afternoon through sunset. Lots of movement.

Good Lay Bad Texter

At the Art Festival for Modernism Week Palm Springs in 2015. As I look through the photos from that year, I can say it was a lot of fun. Let’s see what it looks like coming up.

A Win At Reno

A huge congratulations to my friend Patrick Nightingale flying the Palm Springs Air Museum P-63 Kingcobra to a third place Bronze race win at the 2023 Reno Air Races a few weeks ago. This is video from the 2019 race on a GoPro I mounted in the P-63 with Patrick as the pilot that year. It is an exciting ride!

Mission Inn Christmas

The Mission Inn starting Christmas decorating in September. A Nutcracker on a balconey on the backside of the hotel. The Mission Inn is a very historic hotel in downtown Riverside California and designated as a National Historic Landmark.

Good Billboard

Easy to read at freeway speeds. Clear what it is about and where it is. There is an advertising lesson there. Eastbound along the Interstate 10 freeway between Cabazon and Palm Springs California.

Dragonfly

A Dragonfly flying over a swimming pool. This might be the hardest thing to photograph I have ever attempted lol. Less than 20ft away with a 400mm lens. My second time trying, the first was a blowout. This time I figured out a way to do it, but this was still the only good one out of 252 frames. This is our resident pool Dragonfly so I will be going for some better shots soon.

JT Country Kitchen

I can’t believe I had not eaten here until yesterday. Opened in 1977, the JT Country Kitchen is the longest continually running restaurant in Joshua Tree. Featured on an episode of Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations.

Transmission

“Transmission” a 28ft tall sculpture of concrete, steel and mosaiced with dichroic glass mirror that changes color depending on the viewing angle. Created by owner Morgan Brown and artist Daniel Popper. Photographed yesterday in Joshua Tree.
