Beautiful Women On Bombay Beach

One of my favorite locations to photograph beautiful women. This time I was shooting from the nose of a World War II B-25 bomber for the Palm Springs Air Museum. Bombay Beach at the Salton Sea.

My Rotating Beacon Hat Works!

Wearing that red rotating beacon on my hat always works to bring them right to my camera! Actually this is a really fun airplane to fly in and you can do that right after Christmas from Tuesday December 26th through that weekend.

The Palm Springs Air Museum World War II D-Day C-47 makes for a very historic ride too. This airplane actually flew during the Berlin Airlift. I have personally flown in it a number of times and each time it was just amazing. It is only $195 per person. Money very well spent for a “bucket list” opportunity. Call the Air Museum to make your reservation at 760-778-6262. You really will be happy you did! Thanks!

The Joys Of Boating

The joys of boating at Bombay Beach at the Salton Sea with model Xtine.

Our photo shoot made so much better with the talent of an experienced and wonderful model who is also 6ft-1 in her bare feet. A Hasselblad digital camera system and Broncolor lighting. Thanks!

Inside Outside

I was on the inside shooting from the outside while I was shooting from the inside. Santa’s visit, flying around the Palm Springs area for the Palm Springs Air Museum. This World War II D-Day C-47 is actually a veteran of the Berlin Airlift 1948 – 1949.

Ad Videos And Photo Shoots

One of my favorites from a video series created around my photo shoots for advertising and features for Bodybuilding.com. Here with one of the most admired and respected women in the entire world of fitness, Ava Cowan.

How I Video Santa

Told ya’ I was out for the day shooting Santa flying his C-47! More over this coming weekend too, Santa will be flying at the Palm Springs Air Museum!

From fitness and bodybuilding pros to everyday people, I must say that the video series I have been doing with seniors for Palm Springs Fitness Center have been just wonderful. Thanks!

Xtine The Photo From the BTS Video

My Bombay Beach photo shoot at the Salton Sea with model Xtine. Yesterday I shared a behind the scenes video of her posing here at this spot. This is one of the photos from that “take”.

The Sun was intense and almost directly behind her. My lighting was a Broncolor white beauty dish held by my assistant pointed 45 degrees to her from her right. It was powered by the Broncolor 1200L Move pack. I like the beauty dish out there to withstand the winds and for the power.

The camera is my Hasselblad H4D-40 with the Hasselblad HC 100mm f/2.2 lens. Without question my favorite Hasselblad lens.

Here is the link to the behind the scenes posing video here on my Blog… https://wp.me/pH8pO-2Hn

Fitness Journey

A thought from IFBB Professional figure competitor and fitness icon Ava Cowan from her magazine photo shoot at Palm Springs Fitness Center

– The feeling of contentment to me is one of the most satisfying feelings in life. I can usually feel this to be present when I have arrived at and have become a higher version of myself, within my life’s journey, and fitness is a part of that journey.

– I thought to look up the definition. And after combing through several variations of the definition, this is a portion of one that resonated with me the most.

“Contentment is a mental or emotional state of satisfaction maybe drawn from being at ease in one’s situation, body and mind. Colloquially speaking, contentment could be a state of having accepted one’s situation and is a milder and more tentative form of happiness.”

– When I looked at this photograph last night, that is the exact emotion I see emitting through my eyes. I absolutely looked past the weight training aspect of the image. A moment in time and there I was… content.

– Contentment on my fitness journey in life captured in the moment.

Typical Santa In A C-47 Photo Shoot

Just one of my typical photo shoots where I am photographing Santa Claus flying in the doorway of a C-47. Will be doing more like that this week too! Bring yourself and the kids out to the Palm Springs Air Museum this Saturday and Sunday, December 9 & 10 to see Santa fly, and they can play in the snow too!

Windy Modeling

Some more posing behind the scenes with model Xtine at Bombay Beach at the Salton Sea. The BTS video here was not lit. Sun directly behind her. Lighting the photo shoot was with a Broncolor white beauty dish held by my assistant with a Broncolor 1200L Move pack. I was using a Hasselblad digital camera system.

Note the very windy conditions. I have seen photographers bring soft boxes and umbrellas out here for light modifiers and try to put them on light stands. Not a good plan. The wind just turns that stuff into kites.

Another point is having a model who can pose without being micro-managed. The model will not be able to hear you over the wind noise. So your discussion of posing will all be between “takes”.

Xtine At Salton Sea

Model Xtine adding some color to the apocalyptic environment of the Salton Sea. Our photo shoot at Bombay Beach.

For my photographer friends; my Hasselblad digital camera system and Broncolor lighting. So here was the problem… I really wanted to use this framing of the posts with the Salton Sea directly behind her. But I also had really intense Sun directly behind her.

So a white Broncolor beauty dish to my left at about a 45 degree angle to her just outside the frame held by my assistant. Powered by a Broncolor 1200L Move pack. It was also very windy so any big light modifiers would have been a problem.

The camera was my Hasselblad H4D-40 with the Hasselblad HC 100mm f/2.2 lens.

Daffy At War…

This is really a wonderful fun exhibit at the Palm Springs Air Museum. I know, I got to photograph many of the pieces for the commercials and ads and magazine features. Tonight (Friday at 6) is the reception. So come on out and join me for it! Here are the details…

– Many of us as children grew up watching Daffy Duck, Donald Duck, Tom and Jerry, and the rest of the Warner Brothers, MGM and Walt Disney cartoons. These fond memories stay with us as adults. But how many of us now know that these children’s cartoon characters played an integral role in boosting morale during World War II? You can see your beloved cartoon characters in a new exciting exhibit here at the Palm Springs Air Museum.

– For an in-depth look at the exhibit, join us in welcoming the two owners of the collections that make up Wartime Designs: the Insignia Art of World War II. Tonight Friday, December 1 at 6 PM, a reception Meet and Greet about this exhibit takes place inside the Pacific Hangar at the Palm Springs Air Museum.

– This is really a wonderful and incredible exhibit that you will truly want to experience, and learning more about it from those who have brought it to us adds so much more dimension!

– Tickets are $15 for Air Museum members and $20 for non-members paid in advance. Tickets at the door are $25. To RSVP, call Carol at (760) 482-1836. Thank You!

The Best Part…

The best part of doing these short videos for Palm Springs Fitness Center is meeting and chatting with these wonderful people who are on their fitness journey. Doing squats with Gabriella and her gym trainer Lisa…

A First Time For Xtine

Bombay Beach at the Salton Sea with model Xtine. Her first time around the Salton Sea, my assistant’s first time around the Salton Sea. Photographed with a Hasselblad digital camera system and Broncolor lighting. Only the best!

Xtine At Bombay Beach

Actually a partially overcast day so we had sun and then no sun. To my left 45 degrees to the model was my assistant holding a Broncolor white Beauty Dish, only one light powered by a Broncolor 1200L Move pack. He carried that in it’s shoulder case. Winds at Bombay Beach can be very significant, so that was a factor in my light modifier decision and to not try using a stand. By the way, Xtine the model here, is 6ft-1 in her bare feet.

For The Opera With Xtine

A look at posing with model Xtine at Bombay Beach at the Salton Sea during our photo shoot just the other day. You might ask “Why is that boat there?”. Well, for the opera, of course!

Video shot on a Fujifilm X-T1 camera. The actual photographs from the shoot, previews soon. The photography with a Hasselblad digital camera system and Broncolor lighting. Thanks!

For A 102 Year Old Veteran

Yes it is great fun to be flying with the Palm Springs Air Museum as the photographer and doing the social media. But getting to share doing something for all the right reasons is really special. A flyover for the 102nd birthday of a World War II Veteran and POW. More info below…

On the way to do a flyby to celebrate the 102nd birthday of Veteran Mike Kovich in Desert Hot Springs last Saturday. Mike was a top gunner in a B-17 Flying Fortress bomber in World War II. On the very first mission to bomb Berlin his plane was shot down and he was captured. He spent 13 months as a POW. Very exciting for us to be able to fly on by with our P-51 Mustang “Bunny” and our T-28 Trojan! Thank You to VFW Post 1534 for sharing Mike’s birthday with us! Visit with Mike in his interview with KESQ News here at https://goo.gl/yZVW2c Thanks!

Same Time In Front And Behind The Camera

Not often you will see me in front of the camera and also behind the camera at the same time. Watch for me in the red shirt in the back of an airplane, a T-28 Trojan.

Outstanding for the Palm Springs Air Museum to be featured in Warbird Digest with a great video by Air Show Vid and story by Scott Plummer about the Props & Hops Craft Beer Festival from this just past Saturday! So very much fun for everyone!

The Air Museum has been on a course to bring the best programming andexcitement to it’s guests and to share all of it on it’s Facebook to the largest audience possible. I am proud to say that as the social media manager for the Air Museum they have allowed me the latitude to really push to make that happen. And also the opportunity to create as much content as possible with my own photos and video.

So to watch for more and to participate in the fun please visit and Like the Facebook page for the Palm Springs Air Museum. Thanks!
