Around The World
Super fun when I get to do a photo shoot with people from all the way around the globe. Raechelle Chase for New Zealand Fitness Magazine at Palm Springs Fitness Center.
Cable Crossovers With Ava Cowan
Cable Crossovers with IFBB Pro Figure competitor Ava Cowan at Palm Springs Fitness Center for her workout series magazine photo shoot with me. Thanks!
Ava Cowan…
– One of my favorite ways to train chest. Especially on a Free Motion Machine because of the ability to use a much lighter weight than on a traditional cable machine. Light weight may be a preference on a decline chest press for women for a variety of reasons. Ordinarily, there isn’t a huge emphasis on the decline portion of chest training. But keep in mind that balance and symmetry are key so simply adjust the weight accordingly, and add a few sets in.
– Intermediate and Advanced: It’s an epic exercise for all levels of lifters. I absolutely encouraged you to raise and lower the cables incrementally in order to hit every single angle of the pecs.”
– Favorite Features: There is also the ability to control the movement, speed and angle on a cable machine makes it one of my favorites.
New to your fitness journey or maybe stuck along the way? Check in with one of our trainers. We are all here to be part of that journey with you! Thanks!
One Of My…
One of my favorite photographs of one of my favorite people, Randalene Sergent, shot at Palm Springs Fitness Center. Thanks!
Chest Fly’s And Crush Press
Another workout video with some good points that I shot for Palm Springs Fitness Center with trainer Dan Partridge. Thanks!
About “good form” in doing exercises… “… the reason I have a job”. “We want to make sure that when you come in here that you are doing the exercises not only to better yourself but to make sure you are doing it properly…” – Dan Partridge
Lat Variations
Simple training video clips I have fun doing for Palm Springs Fitness Center. Thanks!
A variation of the Lat Pulldown with trainer Dan Partridge. Making your time better spent in the gym with muscle time under tension. Much better than time under tension in a lot of things we do!
She Has Lost 75 Pounds So Far
Another video workout interview I did for Palm Springs Fitness Center. I love doing these and in this one, Mariah just puts a smile on your face with her enthusiasm. By the way, she has lost 75 pounds!
Bicep Curls With Ava Cowan
From a really great fitness magazine photo shoot series I shot with IFBB Figure Pro Ava Cowan at Palm Springs Fitness Center.
From IFBB Figure Pro Ava Cowan from her magazine workout series photo shoot…
Single Arm Biceps Curls.
Warm Up: Using a lighter weight start with 2 sets of 12-15 reps before moving into a heavier weight.
Set Up: Adjust seat so that the padding is comfortably and completely under armpit. Using a dumbbell as opposed to a machine requires that all stabilizing muscles are warmed up as well.
Working Set: 2-3 sets of 6-12 reps on each arm. Start with the weaker of the two arms. Sets and reps are dependant on lifter’s goals and experience.
Action: Benefit of this angle is you can isolate and squeeze at the top of the movement. On the way down make sure not to lock out elbow, keeping tension on the biceps. Repeat.
Advanced Variation:
Looking for a slight variation and a more advanced exercise?
Try 1 Arm Machine Curls.
Warm Up: Warm up with the 2 sets of 12-15 reps for each arm using a normal amount of weight. You can start with two arms and then move into a single arm warm up.
Working Set: Adjust weight to more than you can lift for one rep. Using the free arm non working arm to help with the positive portion of the lift and then resist the negative only with the single working arm.
1 set of 3-5 reps of negatives.
Heavy Lifting
Some heavy lifting in a magazine photo shoot I did with IFBB Pro Bodybuilder Daniel Hill. At Palm Springs Fitness Center.
Training With A Fitness Trainer
When I do these videos for Palm Springs Fitness Center, it is interesting to hear the comments made by the training clients. There is many a commonality. One thing that I do hear over and over is how happy they are to train with a trainer and what a difference it is made for them.
A different workout method with trainer Dan Partridge with his client Ed. Take a few minutes hear and see what they have to say about it.
And how many of us have said this to ourselves? Ed said that without a trainer… “I found that getting myself to the gym was difficult to do, because I always had other things to do”.
“I have a little bit more limited schedule, we’re doing supersets, so we’re doing 30 minutes, but it is more intensive for 30 minutes. It is a better workout than I have ever gotten.” – Ed
Don’t Eat The Weights
A fun photo shoot with my buddy Rob Carbo this was! It was for Bodybuilding.com published in Iron Man Magazine. A feature I sourced, wrote and photographed monthly for three years. At Palm Springs Fitness Center.
Training With Flavio
Another quick workout video for Palm Springs Fitness Center with retired Professional Bodybuilder Flavio. Thanks!
They Lost 70 Pounds
Another fun video segment I did for Palm Springs Fitness Center. I love telling these real stories with real people on their fitness journey.
Love Doing These Videos!
I really enjoy doing these videos for Palm Springs Fitness Center. Faith has had two strokes and was told best for her to get to a gym to workout because she needed a place that had equipment. Then she started working out with her trainer Howard. Perfect! Take a moment to watch, it really is a great story! Thanks!
Words Fail Me
From one of my photo shoots with my buddy Ashley Owens-Gulina. Good thing I have photos because words fail me. Maybe perhaps “magnificent” and “gorgeous”. Makeup and Hair Styling by another magnificent and gorgeous woman… Natalie Lyle.
225 Done Right
225 pounds or 65 pounds, it’s all a matter of doing it right. Anu Mcknight with great form doing incline bench press during our photo shoot at Palm Springs Fitness Center.
His back end solid on the seat, feet planted flat, shoulders and head back. Hands well spaced to make the exercise work the chest and not too close together activating the triceps. Bring the bar straight down to just above the center line of your chest and then back up, not locking out your elbows. Slow, easy and repeat. If you are only moving it in a partial range, too heavy, lighten up.
Triceps Push Downs
From one of my photo shoots. It may have been the first time Angela D Segovia had been published in a magazine. Great fun! At Palm Springs Fitness Center.
Bicep Curls Done Right
From one of my photo shoots with IFBB Pro Bodybuilder Dan Decker. Dan has always been one of the most consistent and admired bodybuilders around and been published in more magazines than I am sure he can even tell you. At Palm Springs Fitness Center.
Middle Rear Delt
“This is an angle that enables you to target the middle and mid rear deltoid. The more angles that are targeted the more complete the development. It’s the middle rear delt that can be overlooked.”
– A more advanced training tip from IFBB Figure Pro, Ava Cowan. From a magazine workout series photographed by me right here at Palm Springs Fitness Center. Thanks!
Shoulders
My latest video for Palm Springs Fitness Center, my favorite gym by the way! With trainer Bill Bunchak.
Real People Fitness Journey
Real people doing real things on their fitness journey! A short video I shot for Palm Springs Fitness Center. I love doing these stories, been doing them for over a decade for fitness magazines and online resources. More to come! Thanks!
Four Days In The Gym With Ava
One of my favorite photo shoots ever. Spending four days in a gym and evenings poolside photographing Ava Cowan. The best!
There is an actual purpose for all of those mirrors in the gym. Just like IFBB Figure Pro Ava is doing here. Watch your form, the movement of the muscles as you do your lifts. It will get you in touch with actually what is happening and also keep you doing things right.
Ava was here at Palm Springs Fitness Center week doing a photo shoot for a workout magazine series. One of the most respected and admired women in the fitness business. Thanks Ava Cowan!
Fitness Journey Transformation
I photographed and wrote a monthly feature for Bobdyuilding.com in Iron Man Magazine about some wonderful people on their fitness journey. It went on for three years and this story with Juliet Banks was the last. But way up there as one of the most wonderful! Photographed at my favorite gym, Palm Springs Fitness Center. Thanks!
Juliet Banks spent her time devoted to helping others with very special needs. And indeed her own family had very special needs as well. It took a toll on her own health and well being. But there came a time when she realized that she would not be able to help anyone if she didn’t do something about helping herself.
Juliet never wanted to share her story, too ashamed about where she had been. But her involvement in the fitness world brought her to being selected for a feature as the BodySpace Physique Of The Month.
