USAF Flyover At Muscle Beach!
A giant United States Air Force C-17 Globemaster III does a flyover at Muscle Beach to open the big International Classic bodybuilding and fitness show for Memorial Day 2015. Really something to see and hear! And it only happens at the Memorial Day show at the real Muscle Beach/Venice! A big Thank You to Ken H. Goode Jr. and the great people at March Air Reserve Base for making this happen!
Riding The Rails…
She walked out of the desert from that freight train. Was she riding the rails, maybe from somewhere colder? She did see me, she was looking around. The camera didn’t seem to bother her but the hot Sun was too much for leather and denim. She got more comfortable and I think she was looking for her next direction. Maybe she is coming your way. Veterans Day and Muscle Beach
Not only am I very proud to have been the photographer of both of these photos but both Travis Ely and Stephanie Lugo are Veterans of the United States Marine Corps. Is that not perfect for Veteran’s Day today!
I am very happy to be a continuing supporter of Muscle Beach/Venice. Some years ago, I remember walking along that boardwalk at Venice Beach and seeing the huge guys working out in the “Pit” right there. Those were the guys of the Golden Age of Bodybuilding. How exciting to be living that history today! So come on out to Muscle Beach this coming Summer and you can be a part of it too!

I Love Selfies! Jumping Off The Roof Like Superman…
I Love Selfies! And Eddie Medeiros did one that I think came out really cool. Working out, he set up his cellphone on timer and it is really fun! Eddie took to muscle building like many of us kids, regardless of what age or decade. Just like me many years before, he watched Superman and then tied a towel around his neck and jumped off things. I used to jump off the roof of our house! Then at 13 Eddie picked up weights and it has become his passion and his life. Reading and watching everything he could find. Coupled with his interest in art, Eddie has a different look on bodybuilding and it’s esthetics. But to best quote Eddie today, “Each Person is Different but we all have our Special Gifts and Talents to offer to help others to be what we are Meant to be in this Life!”. I met Jennifer Henry when she did one of the shows at Muscle Beach/Venice, and over the months following, learned more about her. The more I learned the more impressed. You never know the path one follows. But I do know that we all can be inspired by those near us. And being inspired by Jennifer Henry is in that category. But for now I will say, look her up on her Facebook page and I am sure she will be telling her story to many more.
Jennifer is doing exactly what I tell and have told to many of you who want to be stars in our world of bodybuilding and fitness. Everyone wants to be on the cover of the magazines and have a big time contract. It can happen but it just does not happen for everyone. Luck, time. place, whatever. But you can be a star where you are right now! That will take you a very long way. And Jennifer is doing exactly that. And that is the right path to those next big opportunities and dreams! She Found The Gym!
I just love my best buddy Natalie Lyle. Some years ago, she started out as my Makeup Artist on my photo shoots and has been steadily with me ever since. The entire world of bodybuilding and fitness was new to her back then. Not the case any more! She lives and has fun with it and is doing more and more everyday. Over the last four months she has gone from beautiful with a rocking body and amazingly long legs to putting on some muscle to start sculpting down to her same self but solid with definition and the lines of an athlete. What an amazing women, you have to picture that she is 6 ft tall in her bare feet and just stunning. Loving her journey and looking forward to seeing more of the journey of Natalie Lyle!

Want to lose 5 pounds today? Throw your scale away! My friend Duyen Arissshared the best comparison ever. In the left photo she weighs 113 pounds. Two years later she weighs 113 pounds. That is two years of eating good real food and lifting iron in the gym. I wonder how many women for two years have been on one “diet” or another and been bouncing around in some group class trying to lose 5 pounds. And the wrong 5 pounds at that! By the way, in that photo on the right, Duyen is 40 years old. Outstanding!
Jack LaLanne 100 Today!
The amazing Jack LaLanne would be celebrating his 100th birthday today! So much in the world of exercise and fitness is owed to this man. This is Jack accepting the Muscle Beach Lifetime Achievement Award on Labor Day Sept. 3, 2007 at Muscle Beach/Venice. Behind Jack is the publisher of Iron Man Magazine and my friend John Balik. John himself an important individual in the world of Bodybuilding. One of the many reasons I like to be at Muscle Beach over the Summer. No where else would I have had the chance to photograph this special moment.
It Started With Way More Than A Bang!
I was going to talk about Summer highlights starting with a bang with Lisa Marino Sanders. But that was no bang, that was an explosion! Our photo shoot at Muscle Beach/Venice getting to use a United States Air Force F-16 and shooting along the famous Venice Beach boardwalk. We were often mobbed and stopped every inch of the way by tourists wanting photos of Lisa or selfies with her. It was too fun and Lisa is nothing but incredible! A big Thanks to Natalie Lyle for makeup and hair styling that gave her that star quality all day! Outstanding!!
