Winner At Muscle Beach And Much More!
Elizabeth Gonzalez looking totally gorgeous and fit backstage at Muscle Beach. A First Place Class winner at the Memorial Day International Classic 2015! But it is what I have learned about her since I met her at the show that knocks me out. Only 19 months ago Elizabeth was an out of shape and might I say chubby 168 pounder who had never done anything athletic. A pretty girl however, describing herself as a “nerdy” “bookworm” “social type”.
It looks like she turned a big corner when she found the Train Insane Gym in Anaheim California. Elizabeth began her journey of health eating and working out. And dedication! Just look what happened!
Now also to my surprise is that among the many women who came out to compete at Muscle Beach from the Train Insane Gym this Memorial Day is that a number of them made tremendous transformations like Elizabeth. I had the opportunity to photograph many and I hope to be showing you them here on my Blog. That must be some gym with a bunch of great people!
Riding The Rails…
She walked out of the desert from that freight train. Was she riding the rails, maybe from somewhere colder? She did see me, she was looking around. The camera didn’t seem to bother her but the hot Sun was too much for leather and denim. She got more comfortable and I think she was looking for her next direction. Maybe she is coming your way. That fitness stuff does a body good! Don’t you just love the way she fills out this little black dress! YES!
Want To Lose 5 Pounds Today?
Want to lose 5 pounds today? Throw your scale away! My friend Duyen Arissshared the best comparison ever. In the left photo she weighs 113 pounds. Two years later she weighs 113 pounds. That is two years of eating good real food and lifting iron in the gym. I wonder how many women for two years have been on one “diet” or another and been bouncing around in some group class trying to lose 5 pounds. And the wrong 5 pounds at that! By the way, in that photo on the right, Duyen is 40 years old. Outstanding!
Jack LaLanne 100 Today!
The amazing Jack LaLanne would be celebrating his 100th birthday today! So much in the world of exercise and fitness is owed to this man. This is Jack accepting the Muscle Beach Lifetime Achievement Award on Labor Day Sept. 3, 2007 at Muscle Beach/Venice. Behind Jack is the publisher of Iron Man Magazine and my friend John Balik. John himself an important individual in the world of Bodybuilding. One of the many reasons I like to be at Muscle Beach over the Summer. No where else would I have had the chance to photograph this special moment.

When Taschen published this sprawling pictorial history of Los Angeles, it was the beginnings of Muscle Beach that made the cover. Be part of that history on Labor Day Monday and come out to the last show of this Summer with beautiful women and guys with muscles on stage showing off their best. Had I not been at Muscle Beach for the show I would have missed shooting this photograph of the exotic and beautiful Marie De Lima Gomez. This coming Monday, Labor Day, is the last Muscle Beach/Venice show of this Summer. Beautiful women and muscle guys on the stage. So come on out, it is great fun. Kicking It Up!
She is kicking it up and bringing it to others. Maria Bertrand loves health and fitness and is going to share that love. Doing her re-certification as a personal trainer and bringing something very special to social to what she does. And that something very special is herself. I can assure you, very special indeed! Do you know that as a professional model this woman has been photographed and appeared in the most prestigious of magazines and for the most well known fashion houses. She has a very impressive list of movie and television credits. And Maria Bertrand even gets in front of my camera now and then. How good is that! Let’s do it!
Pool Party! Maybe Next Time…
It was a hot day out here in the desert when we were doing our photo shoot. So I had no problem persuading Ashley Owens Gulina to get in the pool. Actually our wonderful Makeup and Hair Stylist, Natalie Lyle dropped into the pool a few times herself. Good thing I was busy taking photographs or it would have been a pool party and not a photo shoot. Good idea! Maybe next time!

What Is It Like?
Someone asked me the other day what it is like to photograph the incredibly beautiful women I photograph while I am actually shooting. Well I can sure say it is fun! We all end up being good friends. I am often in awe of what I see through the viewfinder of my camera. Seeing and editing the photographs afterward is beyond description. Randalene Sergent here from one of our photo shoots certainly fits all of that. An amazingly beautiful, intelligent, intriguing and fun individual. She stands on the NPC Bikini stage, works hard and is a driven business person. Always special when Randalene is here for a photo shoot! Just too good! Thanks!
