On the rocks is often my choice. Windy Nguyen makes for a wonderful yard accessory don’t you think! From our photo shoot.

I know I will be seeing my hiking partner Sherry Goggin at the FitExpo today. I don’t know if she will be wearing this hiking outfit she wore the last time we did a photo shoot out in the desert, but she is always looking amazing in wardrobe from her own line of clothes from Fit Girl Wear! If you are hiking at the FitExpo at the Los Angeles Convention Center today, send me an e-mail to SecondFocus@mac.com and we meet up on the trail! Thanks!

Stacey Naito will be at the FitExpo but has been asked by the Los Angeles Fire Department to wear something other than this. It seems that with a crowd expected to be 50,000, it is likely that number would skyrocket leading to overcrowding and the potential for spontaneous combustion from the heat. However, I am willing to take the chance if she wants to wear this again. From our photo shoot with Makeup and Hair Styling by by Estee Lauder Makeup Artist extraordinaire Blanche LeBeau.
The FitExpo is this weekend at the Los Angeles Convention Center. I will be there on Saturday if you want to say Hi. Send me an e-mail to SecondFocus@mac.com. Thanks!

Saturday I will be at the FitExpo at the Los Angeles Convention Center along with 50,000 other people that weekend among the 600 booths and 24 competitions. And you might see me walking around in the company of my good buddy Maria Bertrand. So just fair warning, take a little more effort if you are trying to get my attention while we are there. I do want to see and meet as many people as I can. But I might be a little distracted! Send me an e-mail to SecondFocus@mac.com. Thanks!

The FitExpo at the Los Angeles Convention Center is this weekend so I will be there on Saturday. I get to see my buddy Randalene Sergent who will be there and maybe a few more people too. It is the biggest fitness event on the West Coast and one of the biggest in the country. So if you want to see Randalene or maybe meet up with me, be there and send me a note to SecondFocus@mac.com. Thanks!

Travis Ely is determined coming into his second time at the NPC Iron Man Naturally bodybuilding competition this Saturday. In conjunction with the huge Los Angeles FitExpo this is great kickoff for his next year of competition and accomplishment. You can see Ely giving every inch of concentration as he listens to posing refinements from Jake Sawyer. Along with some last minute diet tweaks from Jake, between now and Saturday morning Ely will look ripped and refined when he steps on stage. So come on out and see the show, I will be there, camera in hand. And take in the FitExpo on Saturday and Sunday at the Los Angeles Convention Center. One of the biggest fitness events in the country!

My most viewed video ever was shot as part of the photo session and ad campaign I did for this magazine advertisement for Bodybuilding.com. The model is Maria Rogers who was nothing short of sensational. But you can see that in the photograph and video.

If you had been at the Palm Springs Air Museum yesterday to see a flying Hellcat you would have had a lot more coming your way. The United States Navy F6F Hellcat was a carrier based plane that destroyed more enemy aircraft during WWII than any other Allied Naval Aircraft. A truly huge and impressive airplane that was plenty to see in flight all by itself. But extra added excitement at the Palm Springs Airport with United States Marine Harriers and United States Navy F/A-18 Super Hornets landing and departing during the day. A very unexpected air show! The Palm Springs Air Museum is a good place to be!

Someone asked the other day if I ever photograph guys in the gym “for the ladies”. Well not with that thought specifically in mind. I do photograph a lot of guys in the gym for magazines, online features, advertising etc. Actually I am one of the most widely known photographers in the bodybuilding and fitness business. However in answer to the idea of “for the ladies”, will this photograph of Jake Sawyer in the gym do the job?

Natalie Lyle has created herself in so many ways. She started with me when she graduated from makeup school with almost no experience. From then, right up to today, she has developed into one of the best makeup and hair stylists one could could ask for. As well as a styling and posing watchful eye. And as a consequence from watching me work with amateur inexperienced models or the most experienced professionals, she has become that posing competent model herself.
Natalie was new to the world of bodybuilding and fitness when she started with me as well. She had never seen the bodies like on the models I often photograph. So finally after spending so much time in this part of the fitness world she decided that a fit body and lifestyle was for her too. Now we have Natalie Lyle, the 6 foot tall gorgeous model with a fitness gym built body. Incredible in front of the camera as well as still behind the camera with me.

A look of style that makes you just want to see her as the pilot in that front seat on her way out to the runway and then push that plane into the air. Does that not sound so very cool! I can just see her! Sharon Lim with a 1946 Boeing PT-17 A75N1 Stearman. U.S. Navy 555 at the Palm Springs Air Museum. From our photo shoot with Makeup and Hair Styling by Natalie Lyle.

Here is something you will not see everyday. As I was on the ramp at the Palm Springs Air Museum yesterday, this came flying by… The Fouga CM 170 Magister was built as a French two seat jet trainer starting in 1952 and went into production in 1956. A top speed estimated at 444 mph, a range of 575 miles and weight 4,740 lbs. It is 33 ft long and has a wingspan of 40 ft. This one was built in 1963 and all Fougas now are privately owned. Yes this would be my idea of a fun ride!

I had photographed this T-28 in my prior post on the ground a few weeks ago at the Palm Springs Air Museum. However I shot it with a Polaroid SX-70 camera with film from the Impossible Project. Something about this Polaroid print makes it one of my favorites.

You know how it is, I get asked if I am a “leg man” or whatever. Well, I am a face man. Emily Hayworth at the 2014 Palm Springs Photo Festival. Photographed by me using a Phase One IQ250 camera and Schneider LS 110mm f/2.8 lens. I added a little creativity for a more dramatic and dreamy look.

Usually behind the work on my photo shoots as the makeup artist and hairstylist, Natalie Lyle is also pretty incredible in front of the camera. Sculpting all 6 ft tall of her into a fit body and watching me direct shoots has made her a model who surely commands a lot of attention. Here is a look of the behind the scenes from one of our photos shoots and an on screen look of a small part of what I see afterwards.

Practicing my skills as a photographer of high end real properties. I think I made this look elegant, don’t you? Just needs a little landscaping work perhaps and some window treatments. Yesterday traveling around Wonder Valley near Joshua Tree and Twentynine Palms.

Last week on the way to Salton Sea, a different route taking us through the farm land of Mecca. It is truly a different world than what we experience in more urban living. And if you think you work hard, well these people really do work hard.

My friend Lydia Tack says I have a camera lens that automatically finds girls with long legs. Well this one is not my fault because Jennifer Henry brought them with her to our photo shoot. There was nothing I could do but take the photographs anyway. And if it is ok with you guys I will be showing more of them to you soon.

For those of you in the depths of Winter around the country or around the world. Do not invite Victoria Kirsanova for a visit. She will melt all the snow and ice and cause flooding. Much too hot! From our photo shoot with Makeup and Hair Styling by Natalie Lyle.

I just find it so odd that in the USA we find ourselves so censored as compared to much of the rest of the world when it comes to things considered sexual. At least that is my view when it comes to photographs and photography. Here is a page from Vogue Paris with model Emily DiDonato. And Vogue is what I would call a mainstream magazine. Below is how I have to post the same photo on Facebook. Can you imagine the same photograph made “safe” for “American” magazines. It is just not as interesting and beautiful. That is why the photograph was designed and photographed as it is in the first place.
