Peaceful Poolside

A moment of peace and harmony poolside with the ever so heavenly Catherine Kwong here in Palm Springs. Makes everything so much better!

Makeup and hair styling by the so very talented Natalie Lyle. Photographed with my Hasselblad digital camera system and Broncolor lighting. Only the best!

Skin Tones

Skin tones, white balance, color correct… part of what you look for when you are doing it right; photographs that is. Best verified and adjusted if needed with a known color source comparison like an X-Rite ColorChecker. However I must say that since shooting with my Hasselblad digital camera system and Broncolor lighting, getting skin tones and colors and white balance right have become what I have always wanted it to be… Perfect! And one of my most favorite models ever, Aristodeme deserves nothing less. For comparison, the full photograph and a closeup crop. Check out the details on the closeup!

Radiant, Dazzling, Gorgeous, Magnificent… Model Severine in front of my camera. Should I say captivating and sublime as well.

Black & White Photography

Of course I love black and white photography. Here is an example of one of my favorites. There is black, which I must say fits her very well. And there is some white there in that bottle. Perfect! And my favorite cookie model, Maria Bertrand. Wonderful Makeup and Hair Styling by the equally wonderful Natalie Lyle. Photographed with a Hasselblad digital camera system. Only the best!

Harrier Jump Jet

Sunday and Monday around Palm Springs you could hear a distinctly different jet aircraft sound. United States Marines Harrier “Jump Jets” were in and out a number of times. On Sunday, from a few miles away, I could see a couple of them in the pattern using the more vertical abilities they have as they used minimal amounts of runway length. Monday morning they left in the more traditional take off mode. It can be very exciting to hang around the Palm Springs Air Museum, always something going on!

Hasselblad At High Speed

I was asked if the Hasselblad camera, my H4D-40 would keep up shooting flying at the Palm Springs Air Museum. The answer is yes as you can see in these photographs. I will say that my experience has shown me that any camera system is challenged when you are shooting objects coming at you, flying by close and leaving in the 300 mph range. I have shot with most and still the leader has been my Canon cameras. However for pure image quality, especially when shooting more general photographs, the Hasselblad is just amazing. I am now looking forward to getting more in the air for some shooting with it.

Safety Crew

So I came up with this new idea for staffing and uniforms for the Safety Crew at the Palm Springs Air Museum. Professional model Gabriella Muttone was kind enough to volunteer for a few photographs and show us what I had in mind. It is my understanding that the concept is under full consideration and everybody would like to see Gabriella return as soon as possible for further demonstrations.

Photo shoot notes… Hasselblad digital camera system and Broncolor lighting. Only the best. And speaking of the best, Gabriella is one extraordinary photographer herself. Check her out at https://gabriella-muttone.squarespace.com

That Palm Springs Sun

Modernism Week Palm Springs is coming up. What will you be wearing? The feel of that Palm Springs sun is like no other. Ask Séverine as she stood in front of my camera out by the pool.

Sometimes a photo shoot is just perfect. The model, a very extraordinary gorgeous Séverine. Incredible makeup and styling by the globe trotting Blanche LeBeau. And not a time to use anything but the best photo gear; Hasselblad digital camera system and Broncolor lighting. As for me… one very happy photographer!

Is This What You Wanted To See!

“Is this what you wanted to see!”… From my photo shoot with Kajira. She is too good! Photo shoot notes… Hasselblad digital camera system and Broncolor lighting. Only the best!

SEX

SEX… There I said it. The gorgeous Aristodeme is reading it. Many photographs to see in it too. “SEX” conceived and featuring Madonna was released in 1992. Photographs and writings of pornography, simulations of all kinds of sexual acts, sadomasochism, raunchy and very erotic.

At the time, critics said it went way too far. But ultimately it was a defining moment for Madonna, her creativity, and as a champion for women’s sexuality and equality. It sold 150,000 copies on the first day of it’s release. “SEX” is perhaps the most sought after out of print book ever released.

Rude

Don’t you just hate it when people leave their car blocking the pumps when they go to the restroom. From a Death Valley excursion, photographed with a Hasselblad digital camera.

Don’t Tell Her

I am keeping this a secret. I think my buddy Maria Bertrand is one of the most incredibly gorgeous women I have ever known. As many times I have seen her in front of my cameras I have never been left with anything but without words. Photo shoot notes… Hasselblad digital camera system. The dress is Guess by Marciano. Off Mulholland Drive above Beverly Hills.

Looking At Her Looking At You

Look away, no you just can’t. Even when you do, you still see her looking at you. This gorgeous woman, Amber Flowers in our photo shoot. She also created her makeup, hair and wardrobe styling. One incredibly talented and beautiful individual.

Sky Chief

Exploring and photographing around Death Valley. A Sky Chief gas pump, a premium fuel invented as high octane and introduced by Texaco in 1938.

Here in Keeler on the East shore of what was the great Owens Lake. Population in 2010 was 66. Back in the 1870’s a steamship carried ore across the lake which today is non-existent. In the 1920’s The City of Los Angeles bled the lake of it’s water leaving behind alkali dust storms driving away the people and their lives.

The Comforts Of Home

Just did a three day road trip exploring the wonders of nature. So nice to find all the comforts of home in the middle of nowhere. Too fun! Actually I have one friend who was not there who I expect will know exactly where this is. What do you think? Anyone else?

Contemplative

A bodybuilding pose begins between the ears. You can see it on his face. That is if you are going to do it right. Doug Brignole is one guy in bodybuilding and fitness who is widely known for doing it right. If there were a belt grade in bodybuilding as there is in martial arts, Doug would hold a black belt at the very highest level of the sport.

Not Necessarily!

Not necessarily! Check out the bicep and shoulder in the mirror on Joanna Johnson. Now check out the weights she is using. You do not need to always use huge heavy weights to build an incredible physique. It is all about doing it right! Everyone is different. From our photo shoot, Thanks!

Wow! All That Behind A Business Card

My new business card. Interesting story behind both sides. The beautiful woman is my friend Gabriella Muttone. Not only a gorgeous and successful model but also an incredibly talented photographer herself. Take a look at her work on her website and you will see why I admire her so very much! At https://gabriella-muttone.squarespace.com

That little boy on the other side of the card is actually me. Yes my photography interests go way back and had some detours along the way. But here I am now. Although I guess I used to dress much better. By the way that photo of me was used recently by the largest association for professional photographers in the world as a magazine ad for their organization, Professional Photographers of America.

A big Thank You to my friend Dennis Johnson, who is very highly regarded professional graphic design artist, for taking the time to create my card.

And a big Thank You to Fred Bell at the Palm Springs Air Museum for letting Gabriella use his office to change wardrobe during our photo shoot.

Wow, all that behind a business card! Even more actually… Gabriella photographed with a Hasselblad digital camera and Broncolor lighting on a Matthews roller stand. And ever reliable assistance by Clyde Sawyer. Very expensive business card!
