I am always considerate with my models about being in the Sun. Especially here in Palm Springs. After all, it is a desert resort. Aristodeme photographed with a classic Polaroid Land Camera on Instant Film from FujiFilm.
From our photo shoot, my friend John Hansen featured in the book “Vince’s Secret Locker” by Karl Coyne. The story of the “Iron Guru” from the Golden Age of Bodybuilding, Vince Gironda. Vince’s Gym was central to the world of bodybuilding and among the people you could find in that gym in North Hollywood were Cher, Denzel Washington, Clint Eastwood, and James Garner. Vince Gironda will be posthumously inducted into the real Muscle Beach Hall Of Fame on Labor Day this year on September 5th.
John Hansen himself a legend in the world of bodybuilding, the very first Mr. Natural Olympia. Recognized as an eminent bodybuilder and historian of the world of bodybuilder.
One of the coolest things I have done as a bodybuilding and fitness photographer. Photographing Phil Collen, of the legendary rock group Def Leppard. And yes I wrote the story too!
President Obama in a motorcade of Chevrolet Suburbans about to drive past me in Palm Springs this morning. Funny thing is that here in Palm Springs the “Uber Black” choice of vehicles seems to be mostly the Chevrolet Suburban. Maybe he could have just gone Uber.

Sometimes the art is on the street, you only have to see it. I wonder what people 100 years from now would think of this scene in the photograph. That seems interesting to me. On Highway 62 in Joshua Tree CA.
How about this for a photo excursion vehicle! Plenty of room for lots of gear, wardrobe changing or just a few guys out on a Route 66. Maybe the rest of the time I could be an Uber driver with it!
Check out this P-47 Thunderbolt flying tomorrow at the Palm Springs Air Museum! 2300HP, a top speed of 433mph and a service ceiling of 40,000 ft. You have to go see this airplane! Do you think the person in the back seat got photos as detailed as my photo of them taking photos?

And what do you get for all this work? … Nothing, Zero, No Money.
And what do you get for all the money you spend to do all this? … Nothing, Zero, No Money.
And what do you have to do for them? … A Lot!
Oh wait… You do get the shirt!
What does Inside Fitness get? A lot of content, free labor, your money making the content, your hopes and dreams and hard work.
What else does Inside Fitness get? The opportunity to sell advertising and pay all of their salaries and expenses, meals and trips, drinks at the bar (the best drinks), buy their cars and travel nicely and stay in nice hotels. Of course while you are standing in their booth at some shows in your high heels for 9 hours. And in some ways you are working for it and financing it for them.
But you get the shirt! Must be some nice shirt!
What do I think Inside Fitness Magazine should do? Pay people! If you don’t have the money, go get a loan at a bank, borrow on your house, sell one of your cars, get out your credit cards. Do not be scamming these people into working for you for free and putting up their money with your vague representations about potential, opportunity and exposure. Wear your own shirt!
My friend Sherry Goggin with her selection of desert hiking wear from her own designs at FitGirl Wear at http://fitgirlwear.com/ So remember to wear the right clothes and bring water! Let me know and I will photograph you too!
Thank You to so very many for your kind words in the last few days about my bodybuilding and fitness show photography. Not a new thing for me to shoot shows.
Actually I am the photographer who was very first credentialed for Bodybuilding.com to shoot their very first Olympia coverage about a dozen years ago. That’s right! Before me Bodybuilding.com never was allowed a photo press credential for the Olympia.
I went on to shoot over 20 shows per year for them all around the country including the Arnold, other pro shows and the bigger amateur shows. Remember when you would get up in the morning and see the show photos from the night before on the Bodybuilding.com website. That was me shooting the show, staying up all night along with one person back at Bodybuilding.com headquarters getting that all online. We pioneered that along with many other show reporting innovations. I could tell you some great and fun stories for sure about those times.
Of course you have seen my show photos in the magazines and on the magazines covers along the way too. But my favorites have always been the advertising, both online and print ads for Bodybuilding.com. Even Jamie Eason was first seen for Bodybuilding.com when I photographed her for them for the very first time.
This is a computer wallpaper that was done back then. There was one of those done weekly and for a few years almost all from my photos. It was all great fun and I still love doing it! Thanks Again!
